An expert in cyber crimes confirmed that passwords are basically not secure and constitute a major security threat to companies.

Jason Hart, senior vice-president for Europe at security firm Cryptocard explains the simple software used by Hackers to find out password and username for whoever available online.

He says that it’s very easy for the Hacker to have such necessary details by accessing in to the email or business systems even for those using a secure internet protocol (http) or encryptions adding that nothing on the internet is secure.

He added that Google search is one of the simple tools used by Hackers to find the administrator’s passwords.

Hackers also install invisible key loggers on their victims’ computers to capture usernames and passwords.

He went on saying that many people believe that the passwords are secure since the hackers’ activities are invisible.

Jason said that even the complicated passwords are not secure against the hackers’ attacks.

Hackers also make use of various social engineering techniques to target their victims by appearing as a member of company’s IT team. In this regard they emails to the new employees referring them to legitimate looking web pages and then ask them to confirm their passwords and usernames.

Director of information security at PricewaterhouseCoopers, William Beer, said that companies should find out innovative ways to protect the passwords otherwise their data will not be secure online.
