To identify themselves online most people have to go through long list of usernames and passwords . The internet experts have criticized such way branding it as impracticable.
In the recent time new technologies have been developed to address this problem such as the OPEDN ID STANDARD that allows the users to use the same user name and password to access to various sites. Many companies are trying their ways to develop technologies for putting an end to this obstacle. Face book, for instance, is providing technologies that help its users to access to other websites using their face book credentials.
On its part the USA government is working to develop a plan for the management of the online identity. The ministry of homeland security has posted a draft online which shows the possibility of setting trustful National identities on the internet. The document suggests how the government could adopt a system form managing the online identities. The ministry sees that the new system should include both government and private sector agencies.
The document posted by the ministry does not suggest creating national ID card or cretin government system for the online identities instead the it said that we have to make use of the current technologies of the online identities to create a simple , privacy – conscious system without leaving the system to be under the government control.
It provided several ideas for the nature of the new system. One of which suggests that the user might have an identification technology connected to the ministry’s of homeland cell phone. Such way could be used to access to government site and access tax services. This new way doesn’t require creating a new account every other time.
However many Internet experts have criticized the new draft saying that the roof of the government control in the new system is not determined. They added such suggestions might be suitable to be adopted by the organizations and not individuals because it’s very complicated.
