Saudi Arabia has improved its position in the Global Information Technology Report 2009-2010. The report was released by the World Economic Forum (WEF) on March 25, 2010.
In this report, the Kingdom was ranked at the 38th place. In 2008-2009 report, the Kingdom was at 40th position, while it has ranked 48 on 2007-2008 report. The report reveals the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) that shows how prepared countries are in using ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) effectively.
Sweden was able to retain its first position in this ranking, while Denmark slipped to the third position from second position in 2008-2009 ranking, leaving the second position for Singapore. Switzerland came on the 4th position while the United States has managed to hold 5th position.
The Global Information Technology Report 2009-2010 articulates that India has achieved a progress in its global IT ranking as it has jumped to the position of 43 compared to 54 in 2008-2009 report.
The report shows Finland at the 6th position, Canada 7th, Hong Kong at 8th place, the Netherlands on the 9th place and Norway on the 10th.
Switzerland at 5th position, and the Netherlands and Canada are able to get place in the top 10. The report ranks South Korea at 11th place, and Taiwan at 13th place.
Ranking of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is as follows; UAE has been ranked at 23 from 27th position, Qatar at 30th place, Bahrain at 29th place, Oman at 50th position, and Kuwait at 60th place.
The ranking of other Arab countries included in the reports is as follows: Tunis 39, Jordan 44, Egypt 70, Syria 105, Algeria 105, Morocco 88 and Libya 103.
