It’s to be noted here that Iceland, Sweden and Hong Kong lead the rankings of the Global Innovation Index (GII) Report 2009-2010, while The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were placed as the top five from the Middle East and North Africa region.
It’s very important to say that the report measures about sixty parameters collects its hard data from different sources such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations, and the World Bank.
It’s noteworthy that the GII report which was initiated in 2007 highlights the significant role played by the innovation in the competitiveness and the growth of the states and focuses on the obstacles faced by the government agencies and the business sector.
