Ministry of Communication and Information Technology issues the first E-newsletter for the national plan

Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) has issued the first edition of the E- newsletter of the national plan for communication and information technology. The newsletter is a quarterly bulletin managed by the National plan secretariat in the ministry. 

Feeling the necessary of updating the citizens with the outputs of the national plan, MCIT has issued this journal.

The E-newsletter aims at highlighting citizens with the basic elements and the outputs of the national plan for communication and Information Technology and to make an easy access to the plan’s stakeholders besides having other continuation venues with the specialists in communication and Information technology field in a way which could help achieve the set goals. The newsletter will also contribute in providing updated information about the latest developments and the projects of the said plan.

Before being adopted by the council of ministers’ resolution 160 dated 11 Jumada 1 corresponding the 28th of May 2007, the National Plan passed over many stages and procedures. In short , the national plan consists of two basic elements, firstly the long term approach for the communication and Information technology sector in the Kingdom  that include  the future vision and seven general objectives. Secondly the first five years plan that includes the directives of achieving the future vision through (26) specific objectives derived from the general objectives in addition to (98) projects.

As it’s known the national plan for communication and information has come to its third year so this E-newsletter together with the annual report of the plan (transformation to the digital community” will help provide updated details about the plan and the rate of the achieved projects. 

Launching the first edition of this E-newsletter, H.E. the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Eng. Mohamed Jamil Mulla confirmed the importance of the plan saying that its one of the basic components of the development, which will help realize the objectives of the sustainable development and improve the quality of the services provided to the citizens besides the transformation to the digital community.

The E-newsletter has covered many sides including a historic review of the plan besides shedding light on one of the objectives of the plan. In addition giving details about the ongoing projects as per the seven general objectives of the plan.

The E-newsletter also reviewed the positive impacts of the plan on the development witnessed in communication and information technology infrastructure projects.

It’s to be noted here that the E-newsletter also took the advantage of the international indexes such as IDI in making comparison between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other selected countries.
