The E- government program held the second workshop within a week

In less than a week, the E-Government program (YESSER) held on Tuesday 17th of Rajab-1431 H corresponding 29th of June 2010 in Riyadh Marriott Hotel, the second workshop for setting the    second five year plan of the E-Government transactions in the Kingdom between the years 2011 and 2015. The workshop was attended by the members of the E-government transactions committees.

In the beginning of the workshop, the Director General of the E-government Transactions Program (Yasser), Eng. Ali Bin Saleh Al Somae praised the participation of the government agencies in developing the second executive plan for the E-government transactions in the Kingdom. He referred to the achievements made in this regard including Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), the national integration channel, the digital excellence Award, preparing the unified specifications guide, executing SADAD payment system, measurement of the scale of government agencies transformation to the e-government, making more than 700 public services available online, obtaining number of international awards besides the continuous advancing of the kingdom  in the UN ranking from 105 in 2003 to the 58th place in 2009. AL Somae expressed his hope that the kingdom to become within the first twenty five countries in the UN ranking.

Al Somae branded the e-government experience as a basic change in the culture, behavior, rules, regulations and technology which faces various challenges necessary for the progress of the e-government transactions. These challenges include the shortage of human cadre, the limited administrative and financial flexibility in the public sector, the delay in the implementation of the public projects besides the prevailing of negative cultures such as bureaucracy, individuality and the lack of institutionalism.

Wrapping up his speech Al Somae confirmed that they have the desirousness and the determination to overcome all the said challenges to pave the way for providing better e-transactions all round the Kingdom.
