Riyadh:
H.E. the Ministe of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Mohamed Jamil Mulla opened on Saturday 17 Jamad Awal 1429H (21 June 2008) the second workshop organized by the secretariat of the National Communications and Information Technology Plan (CITP). The event was held at the Ministry headquarters in King Abdul Aziz Telecommunications Complex in Riyadh.
The workshop theme focuses on the mechanism of work and partnership in the implementation of CITP.
Speaking at the event, Eng. Mulla underlined the importance of CITP at the national level, explaining that the Plan is not a property of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, adding that the ministry was assigned by the King to prepare this Plan, coordinate with other concerned bodies about it and supervise the phases of its implementation.
He added that the CITP was fully prepared by Saudi experts and that different public and private sectors’ agencies are involved in it. He highlighted the concern given to the Plan from the different concerned agencies, describing this concern as “good”. He indicated that this attention reflects the sincere desire to have this CITP succeed. He underlined his Ministry’s readiness to offer all support and assistance to the different parties in order to go ahead for the full success of the Plan.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology explained that CITP requires combination of efforts of all concerned parties, adding that the Plan consists of long-term perspective and future vision in addition to the objectives pertaining to the Fifth Plan.
For his part, the Minister’s advisor and supervisor general, National CIT Plan , Dr. Mohammed Al-Qasem reviewed the strategic landscape for the implementation of CITP, objectives related to the different aspects of the strategy, measurement indices and relevant projects, initiatives and decisions. He underlined the core role of the private sector in executing various projects at government sectors particularly CIT projects.
Meanwhile, the Workshop was attended by CITP coordinators at government agencies, directors of government relevant projects and officials from the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) and officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
It is worth mentioning that this Workshop comes within a series of activities being conducted by CITP secretariat and aim at shedding more light on the various aspects related to the CITP objectives, projects and models as well as the indices for measuring these objectives, projects and models.
