MCIT Organizes NCITP Workshop

The Secretariat General of the National Communications and Information Technology Plan (NCITP), an affiliate of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology organized on Tuesday June 9, 2009, a one-day workshop.

The event, held under the theme: “Vision and Coordination for the Implementation of NCITP,” was held at King Abdul Aziz Telecommunications Complex in Riyadh.

The workshop reviewed some aspects pertaining to the progress of NCITP projects. An in-depth perception about NCITP and projects been completed during the year 1428/1429H. (2008) was presented during the workshop. The event also discussed establishing appropriate frames for further cooperation and coordination for the realization of NCITP objectives through presentation of   shift indicators, targeted figures and introducing the project status format and the automatic system designed for the follow-up of the progress of the implementation of NCITP and its projects.

The workshop also discussed ways of boosting relations between NCITP Secretariat General and the different agencies concerned with the implementation of the NCITP projects in a bid to realize the future vision of ICT in the Kingdom through transformation into an information society and digital economy, which will increase productivity, provide ICT services for all society segments and build a strong industry in the sector to become one of the key sources of income.

A statistical overview of the initial description format of NCITP Project Charter as well as projects tables, work of progress in these projects and the names of parties responsible for implementation, were presented during this Workshop.

Among the objectives, which the Workshop sought to realize is to contribute in supporting concerned project managers to adopt and select appropriate indicators to measure the progress of the implementation of their projects and to check its suitability in order to reflect  a  clear picture about the objectives been achieved  according to globally-followed performance indicators.

Meanwhile, in addition to MCIT senior officials, the workshop was attended by coordinators of the departments concerned with the implementation of NCITP projects, projects managers, and division and section managers in relevant departments as well as reporters of local media outlets.
