H.E. Eng. Mohamed Jamil Mulla, Minister of Communications and Information Technology highlighted King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) experiment in launching BADIR incubators program which was kicked off by setting up BADIR-ICT. These incubators contribute in the support of ICT industry, open new horizons of investments and enhance the national economy.
The remarks of H.E. the minister were made during his visit on Tuesday June 23, 2009 (30 Jamad Thani 1430H.) to the premises of BADIR-ICT. He was accompanied by the governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) and a number of MCIT senior officials.
Upon arrival at BADIR-ICT premises, Eng. Mulla was received by Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel, President of KACST and a number of KACST officials.
During the visit, the minister and his accompanying delegation were briefed on BADIR-ICT project as the first national ICT technology incubator in Saudi Arabia to be launched by KACST. They have also been briefed on the aspects represented by this ambitious program in implanting the culture and spirit of initiating ideas and businesses of economic and industrial revenues a matter which contributes in creating new job opportunities in different fields.
H.E. the minister and his accompanying delegation were also briefed on the numerous promising initiatives and innovations. The owners of these initiatives and innovations explained the role of KACST in transforming their innovations into new economically-feasible businesses.
It is worth noting that BADIR-ICT is one of the outputs of the comprehensive national plan for science and technology, overseen and supported by KASCT. The plan includes a number of projects and programs, among them; the establishment of excellence centers in different technologies and specialized research centers and providing financial and logistic support for stimulating scientific and technological researches.
