Under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali, Vice-Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and as part of the Ministry's efforts to promote digital transformation, "Drive Digital" Summit has kicked off today at APEX Convention Center.

The two-day event, organized by Google and INSEAD Business School, is bringing together local and international business leaders across the Kingdom to enhance networking and exchange experiences, discuss the biggest challenges facing companies and leverage the tools available digitally. At the end of the event, all attendees will receive accredited certificates from the INSEAD.

The first day featured 200 people, representing several international and local companies in the Kingdom, from different sectors to learn about the benefits of establishing and managing the business digital presence. Several topics related to digital transformation will be discussed, including e-commerce and retail, artificial intelligence and machine learning, smartphone marketing, website administration, data analysis, and Google tools to help companies manage their marketing campaigns.

The summit will also be attended by a number of local and international representatives from all over the Kingdom, with the aim to enhance networking opportunities and sharing experiences, discuss the major challenges facing companies and make use of digital tools.

High profile members of INSEAD’s faculty will conduct a workshop for all participants to highlight the challenges facing international companies in digital transformation and help them find solutions and strategies under the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

For his part, HE Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali, said that this summit represents a step toward enabling digital transformation, noting its importance in increasing the participation and engagement of ICT companies in such creative activities and calling to seize the opportunities created by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

On the first day of the summit, Al-Ohali reviewed the steps and initiatives taken by the MCIT to support and encourage the ICT companies to compete in this field, in order to take full advantage of the technology and adapting them to serve all fields, as well as to establish an innovative technological ecosystem that enhances competitiveness and enable the Kingdom rank among the top 20 global models of digital transformation and innovation. He added that the Ministry is seeking to raise the awareness of digital transformation for enterprises of all sizes, encouraging them to adopt new technologies that contribute to augment the consumer’s online experience, and the ability to compete in the global market.

Concluding his statement, Al-Ohali called on the owners of the companies to benefit from the training workshops and the panel discussions in order to move towards an intelligent future based on a comprehensive digital transformation.
