Concurrently with the visit of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the CEDA to the Republic of India, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed two memorandums of understanding with two major Indian companies in the ICT sector including ‘Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) and ‘Wipro Limited’. The two memorandums are aimed at localization of technology, transfer of knowledge to the Kingdom, and development of digital skills for Saudi national cadres with a view to prepare a distinct generation to support the targeted digital transformation.

The two memorandums were signed at the Saudi-India Forum held in New Delhi in the presence of the Deputy Minister for Technology and Digital Capacities Development Dr. Ahmed Al-Thenayyan, accompanied by MCIT’s senior officials, and the officials of TCS and Wipro.

On this occasion, The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha highlighted the significance of these memorandums in supporting MCIT's efforts to promote the ICT sector in the Kingdom through building strategic and fruitful cooperation partnerships with global ICT companies in order to enhance the contribution of digital local content. Al-Swaha also stated that these partnerships aim to support and empower national cadres to meet the needs of the digital future and to keep up with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 in building a digital society, a digital government, a thriving digital economy all geared to achieve a better future for the Kingdom including a comprehensive development renaissance that will make the Kingdom stronger and more modern.

The memorandums concluded with Tata and Wipro provide for the establishment of strategic partnerships in the localization of technology, centers of excellence and the development of digital capacities in partnership with MCIT, as well as in the development of ICT services and expansion of current services, which helps to strengthen the regional economy within the Kingdom, provide thousands of highly skilled jobs and training courses that support job Saudization programs in the ICT sector and talent development programs, prepare a plan for the localization of technology and transfer of knowledge to the Kingdom, support and empower digital entrepreneurship, participate in digital forums, and exchange visits between experts and specialists.
