We are building Saudi-Egyptian digital alliance, says Minister Al-Swaha

His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has started today an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, heading a high-profile Saudi delegation, including officials from MCIT, relevant government agencies, ICT companies and technical entrepreneurship.

H.E Al-Swaha expressed his pleasure to visit the Arab Republic of Egypt, which comes within the strong historical relations between the two sisterly countries that are witnessing ever-increasing growth and prosperity in various fields led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his brother the Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi.

Al-Swaha said that the visit aimed at establishing fruitful relations of cooperation and partnership with Egypt in the field of communications and information technology in accordance with our strategic orientations aimed at localization of technology, transfer of knowledge to the Kingdom and development of digital skills for national cadres, with a view to support the targeted digital transformation and realize the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

During his visit, Minister Al-Swaha held talks with His Excellency Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt. They discussed means of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of ICT and exploring opportunities for joint investment in the digital field to achieve growth and prosperity in this vital sector in order to accelerate the progress of digital transformation in all government, economic and social sectors in both countries.

In addition, the Saudi delegation visited the Information Technology Institute (ITI) in the Smart Village in Cairo, Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC). They discussed with the Egyptian officials exchanging technical knowledge, expertise and experience, leveraging training for the development of human capital in the digital and technical efficiency, through joint programs and training of Saudi cadres in the field of technical and programming skills, as well as exchanging training and qualification scholarships for students.  The two parties also addressed how to encourage entrepreneurs in both countries and consultancy services to build promising partnerships in digital industries.
