Under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has launched today the registration portal for the ‘Tech Champions’ program. The program is aimed at strengthening the Kingdom's position as a leading digital hub, through enhancing the economic contribution of technology SMEs, thus contributing to the digital transformation and realization of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister for Technology and Digital Capacities Development Dr. Ahmad Al-Thenayyan stated that the program represents a strategic initiative aimed at removing the obstacles and challenges facing the target sectors, which are addressed through leveraging of emerging technologies such as AI, IoT and other technologies. He noted that the program also seeks introduce the importance of keeping pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the development and advancement of businesses.

In addition,  Dr. Al-Thenayyan said that this program will also provide technology entrepreneurs with the support and tools required to implement their projects on the ground and try to connect them with the partners from the private and semi-governmental sectors interested in their projects, thus accelerating the process of digital transformation aimed at bringing about a comprehensive development renaissance that makes the Kingdom stronger and more modern.

The targeted segments of entrepreneurs in e-commerce, Hajj and Umrah, agriculture, industry, entertainment, sports and social work can apply to the program by uploading their existing projects or ideas to the program’s website (techchampions.sa/), which includes all the sources and data needed by the applicants and allows them to communicate with the program’s management. Registration, submission and evaluation of projects will be electronic through the website of the program.

The program will allow participants to gain practical experience through the relevant bootcamp. Within three-month course through business accelerators, which includes two programs (training and guidance), participants will receive intensive training in the use of technology. The winners will be honored at the end of the program.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is exerting continuous efforts to achieve its strategic orientations emanating from the Vision 2030, which aims at building a digital society, a digital government and a thriving digital economy based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
