CIT Minister, Education Minister open "Education Sector’s Digital Strategic Plan" Workshop

HE Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa, Minister of Education, and HE Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, have opened today the innovation lab for the “Education Sector’s Digital Strategic Plan” with the participation of the public and private sectors.

On 05/11/2017, Eng. Al-Swaha inaugurated a series of workshops organized by the National Digitization Unit. These workshops are scheduled to take place from 05/11/2017 to 30/11/2017 within the second phase of the building mechanism for the sectorial digital strategic plan. They aim at engaging all stakeholders in the sector, conducting in-depth discussions in each part of the strategic plan for the sectorial digital transformation, in addition to involving external parties including international experts in the sector’s digital transformation or influencers in the private sector.

The “sectorial digital strategic plan” project, focusing on health, education, digital commerce and smart cities, aims to prepare the Kingdom’s national strategy for digital transformation through partnership and agreement with the relevant sectors. The strategic plan for the digital sector includes a set of information and analysis that ultimately lead to a set of initiatives and timeline for implementation within five years. Information and analysis that ultimately leads to a set of initiatives and 5-year implementation timeline.

The objectives of the strategic plan are to develop a unified digital strategy for each sector to expedite the realization of the strategic goals of Vision 2030, led by the ministry responsible for each sector, build on the digital transformation program’s initiatives 1.0 and 2.0, participation of all stakeholders in each sector, set the digital outlook for the future of each sector, consolidate efforts and rationalize disbursement on digital projects, achieve optimal use of digital platforms, enable the ministry responsible for each sector to adopt the rapid digital gains.
