Ministry of Communications, STC ink pact to qualify 800 graduates for high-profile ICT jobs

In order to train 800 Saudi graduates of local universities and the external scholarship program for high-profile jobs in the ICT sector, The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, and Dr. Khalid Al-Bayari, CEO of STC Group. The MoU aims to qualify 800 graduates for high-profile jobs that require high ICT skills, as well as to bolster collaboration between the two parties to implement the specialized human capital development initiatives in the sector and achieve MCIT’s objectives within the National Transformation Program 2020.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Mohammed Al-Mushaiqeh, Deputy Minister for Planning and Development, and Eng. Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, Vice-President for Human Resources Sector at STC. The agreement includes a four-year training program in Riyadh in various specializations required in the ICT sector for the Saudi graduates of recognized local and foreign universities within the external scholarship program who meet the relevant requirements.

The MoU is in line with MCIT’s plans to overcome the challenge of shortage in specialized ICT human capital and to leverage the skills and capabilities of users in the field of communications and information technology through several initiatives. MCIT has set an integrated vision for the beneficiaries of the initiatives and divided them into three major ICT categories: users, professionals and experts.
