Al-Swaha: Combating corruption and terrorism, consolidating moderation values to be historic achievements for King Salman

Upon the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of Allegiance-pledge to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stressed that the celebration of this occasion is a great opportunity to evoke the blessing of security, stability and prosperity witnessed by the Kingdom under the leadership of King Salman, and a reminder of the achievements in all sectors during his reign, including education, industry, ICT, culture and many others.

"Today, as we celebrate the third anniversary of King Salman’s ascension to the throne, we feel proud and dignified under the skies of a high, strong and courageous homeland that derives its strength from the founder King Abdulaziz - may Allah bless his soul - and has proved strength, firmness and resoluteness under the wise leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz – may Allah bless him," said Eng. Al-Swaha. He added, "We have experienced many high directives aimed at meeting the requirements of the citizens and preserving the assets of the homeland, through an integrated system of work between the state’s agencies and institutions, as well as a number of decisions that contribute to the well-being and rights of the Saudi people. On every occasion, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was keen to focus the citizen as the cornerstone of development.

Furthermore, Al-Swaha pointed out that the ICT sector has received a special support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, as the sector has a great role in achieving sustainable development and the desired advancement, since it is one of the main potentials for achieving and developing the digital economy and the knowledge-based society and has critical importance in bridging the digital divide, supporting e-commerce and digital transformation efforts, in line with the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020​.

Al-Swaha stated that the decisions taken by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to fight corruption, support and motivate the private sector and develop basic services throughout the country reflect a great political acumen, great knowledge and absolute firmness with regard to the homeland’s security and service and preserving its assets and achievements from internal and external sharks.

He added, "We are confident in King Salman’s continuous effort to achieve the success and excellence of the homeland in all fields and at all levels. At the external level, the Kingdom has risen politically and economically through several important achievements, from supporting the Arab and regional issues to the fight against terrorism and its supporters. This has given our country the international position that it wishes and deserves to be at the forefront of the developed world because of its superiority in many aspects, as well as its quest for justice and peace in the Middle East. The Kingdom was able, through its wise leadership, to balance its steps and choose what serves its interests, the Arab nation and the Islamic world, in accordance with its vision and independence.”

"Our goal is to be one of the first countries to embrace digital transformation, and its vision was promising of this ambition. Our first step toward this goal requires a huge development of the digital infrastructure, building national talent and capacities, and creating an effective partnership with the youth, the private sector and entrepreneurs.

He noted that this growing focus on the sector would contribute strongly to improving the citizen's experience with access to government services, reducing costs and raising the efficiency of production, which will create new opportunities for the youth and the private sector. He also unveiled that the key MCIT’s projects for the coming period are dedicated for the development of the digital infrastructure through the provision of high-speed internet access for citizens and residents, preparation and equipment of vital facilities, which represent one of the most important requirements for achieving the digital transformation.

In addition, he explained that success has always been accompanied by facing difficult challenges and putting tasks to the highest priority, indicating that the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince has had the greatest impact in achieving qualitative leaps in the ICT sector.

“On this dear occasion, I cannot but ask Allah the Almighty to perpetuate our country's security, stability and prosperity, and to save The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, bless him with health and support him in serving his religion and homeland,” Al-Swaha concluded.
