Under the aegis of His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the e-Government Program (Yesser) organized the First National Enterprise Architecture Conference, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. In a speech at the opening of the conference, Eng. Al-Swaha pointed out that it aims to reinforce the concept of ‘Enterprise Architecture’ and the importance of its application in the sector for accelerating the digital transformation of government entities and realizing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, as well as to highlight the key role of the Enterprise Architecture in the acceleration of government digital transformation and raising the Kingdom's ranking in the UN e-Government Development Index.
In addition, the Director-General of Yesser Eng. Ali Al-Assiri stated that they are seeking to manifest the importance of unifying the national standards of NEA’s services, applications, data and technology to be a reference for all government entities, and to push up the digital maturity for the transformation of key government services to 85% in 2020.
Al-Assiri indicated that Yesser aims through this conference to inform participants about the importance of applying the concept of NEA, which helps avoid duplication of investment in information technology and improve the efficiency of information technology, raise the proficiency of financial planning for government spending on information technology and building capacities in the government entities, in order to expedite the digital transformation. He also noted that the conference targeted the leaders and officials responsible for planning and development in the government sector, so as to support and enable them to make the optimal use of information technology through the best practices of Enterprise Architecture.
The National Enterprise Architecture Conference reviewed of a number of international expertise in the application of Enterprise Architecture. The conference featured experts, specialists and those interested in digital transformation and enterprise architecture from the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Denmark and the United States of America, who delivered presentations and work sheets that enriched the activities of the conference.
