The National Center for Digital Certification (NCDC), affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), recently approved 3 government entities as providers of government certification after they had successfully fulfilled NCDC’s requirements. These entities are the Emirate of Jazan Province, Qassim Municipality and Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University.
This approval shall authorize the Emirate of Eastern Province to avail of the NCDC’s services and issue digital certificates for the beneficiaries of electronic services, and activate the digital certification services, such as verification of identity, digital signature, data encryption, and fixing shortcomings, like the difficulty of verifying the identities of the parties transacting electronically.
NCDC is investing in the digital certification industry. It offers its services in the electronic transactions market within Saudi Arabia through a complete ecosystem for the administration of the public key infrastructure (PKI) on which all the electronic services, like e-commerce and e-Government, are based. “PKI” enables online transactors of all segments, whether Government agencies, citizens or businesses to perform electronic transactions with full confidentiality, trustworthiness and safety.
