Aimed at qualifying national cadres and providing them with suitable job opportunities in the ICT sector, as well as to contributing to the development and advancement of the Kingdom and realizing the Vision 2030, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development. This memorandum targets qualifying national cadres and providing them with appropriate job opportunities in the ICT sector, thus contributing to the development in the Kingdom and accomplishing the Vision 2030.
The agreement was inked by His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Dr. Ali Al-Ghafees, the Minister of Labor and Social Development at the latter’s office in Riyadh.
For his part, Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha said that the strategic partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development comes within the ministry's 2020 work plan and objectives, which include focusing on developing the capacities of the human capital and increasing job opportunities in the ICT sector by creating 20,000 jobs, In addition to training 20,000 young Saudis in the ICT field by 2020. Al-Swaha indicated that the Ministry of Labor and Social Development is the optimal partner for the qualification and training of Saudi cadres and the localization in the ICT sector, calling for concerted efforts between the government entities and an integrated system to achieve the Vision 2030’s objectives.
The memorandum allows for collaboration between the two ministries in the field of localizing ICT professions through the qualification of national cadres and providing them with the knowledge and skills appropriate to the needs of the labor market in the ICT sector. It also includes providing suitable job opportunities for citizens in the sector and raising their skill level, in addition to creating a safe and attractive working environment in the private sector.
Furthermore, the memorandum involves various areas of cooperation such as exchanging information, data and studies on the ICT sector localization, cooperation in the field of training and qualification, and enablers of women employment in the sector. It also provides for cooperation in the qualification and employment of people with special needs and children of martyrs, and collaboration in the fields of training and qualification in support of localization in the field of cellphones and smart devices maintenance.
