In cooperation with the e-Government Program (Yesser), the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) conducted a training program on IPv6 implementation and application between 16-18 April 2018 at its headquarters in Riyadh.

The CITC pointed out that the program was delivered by a group of international engineers specialized in this field in cooperation with RIPE NCC, the Regional Internet Registry for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. It indicated that the program was aimed at training employees from government sectors to inform them of the key security trends and practices relevant to the IPv6 application.

The pragram is part of the CITC’s ongoing efforts to disseminate IPv6 support within Saudi Arabia. This training session is the 15th in a row, benefiting more than 400 trainees from the public and private sectors as well as Internet service providers in the Kingdom.

The IPv6 version is the latest version of the Internet Protocol, which provides a huge number of IP addresses used to connect devices. It is required for the expansion and growth of the Internet, replacing the fourth version (IPv4) currently used.
