As part of its plans geared toward creating a digital environment that embraces, develops and captures Saudi minds and skills in ICTs in order to achieve digital transformation to spur the development process in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) inked a memorandum of collaboration with ZTE H.K. Ltd. yesterday in Riyadh at MCIT’s headquarters. The memorandum was signed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Thenayyan, Deputy Minister for Technology Industry and Digital Capacities, and Mr. Hu Xing, Deputy CEO of ZTE.

The memorandum aims to develop human capital capacity and increase ICT employment opportunities, as well as to promote the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the industry. It provides for establishing an innovation hub and expediting digital solutions to be a gateway for provision of digital transformation services within Saudi Arabia. In addition, the innovation hub will be working to create high-skill jobs and training opportunities for the national cadres.

Furthermore, the hub will be dedicated for the incubation of ICT entrepreneurs in the industry through stimulating innovative digital business models. It shall also involve initiatives for the development of human capital in the ICT sector in the areas of leadership and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, targeting over 1,000 Saudi cadres. Moreover, the relevant agreements are to tackle creation of specific jobs for national cadres.

In this regard, Dr. Al-Thenayyan pointed out that the strategic partnership with Devoteam Group would have a supportive role within the achievement of MCIT’s goals and plans for 2020, which focus on investment in national cadres and promotion of ICT innovation and entrepreneurship culture, particularly in the future technologies like AI and IoT. Al-Thenayyan also emphasized the significance of investing in Saudi cadres as key success pillars and enablers that ensure the continued development and entrepreneurship in the Kingdom. Concurrently, he indicated that MCIT’s policy in concluding partnerships with the relevant parties drives at achieving integration, cooperation and consolidation of efforts to further the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
