ICT Ministry sponsors launch of ‘2nd Huawei ICT Competition’ to discover, develop Saudi promising talents

Featuring His Excellency Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali, Vice Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the second edition of 'Huawei ICT Competition' has kicked off on Sunday, August 23, 2018, in the presence of HE Mr. Li Huaxin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom, as well as representatives from the educational and private sectors. The Competition is sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and organized by Huawei International Pte Ltd.

Commenting on the launch, HE Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali said, "This competition provides a great opportunity to develop the skills of our students and prepare them to enter the digital world as it gives them an opportunity to acquire unmatched ICT expertise, and introduces them to the latest innovative technologies and trends under the guidance of a global leader in the ICT sector such as Huawei. Huawei has signed with the Ministry this agreement in a series of agreements, through which the Ministry aims to build a digital environment that embraces, develops and attracts digitization minds and skill.” “The agreement is geared to refine the skills of Saudi promising youth and prepare them to assume their national responsibilities in the achievement of national agendas,” Al-Ohali added.

Launched today in the Kingdom and nine other countries in the region, Huawei’s competition is one of the most significant awareness initiatives targeting 5000 students in the Kingdom. It shall contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of societies and motivating them to play an active role in realizing the national vision for digital transformation and economic development of these countries. The youth to qualify to the finals in China will be awarded the Grand Prix, and the distinguished participants will have the opportunity to work for Huawei.

HE Li Huaxin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom, said, "This competition is another example of the close relationship we have with Saudi Arabia."

Mr. Spice Lee, Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications at Huawei Middle East, said, "Huawei is pleased to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and to His Excellency Eng.
