Minister of Communications Meets Entrepreneurs at Najran Chamber and Commends Winning Projects of the Tech Hackathon
H.E. Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with entrepreneurs and investors at the Najran Chamber of Commerce during his visit to the region, in the presence of a number of leaders from government and private-sector entities.
The meeting highlighted the promising opportunities offered by the digital economy in the Najran region, and the role of digital enablers in supporting the growth of startups and stimulating technology investment, contributing to economic diversification and enhancing the region’s competitiveness.
H.E. listened to the inputs and perspectives of entrepreneurs on available opportunities, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs to expand in technology-driven sectors. He also stressed the importance of maximizing the benefits of digital infrastructure, developing national capabilities, and strengthening public–private partnerships to build a resilient ecosystem capable of sustainable growth.
Following the meeting, H.E. met with the winning teams of the Najran Tech Hackathon, supported by the Digital Entrepreneurship Center (CODE). The hackathon aims to empower national talent and develop innovative digital solutions to address societal challenges by leveraging emerging technologies to create practical, scalable applications.
The showcased projects included ten innovative technology prototypes, such as a smart medication box to enhance treatment adherence; an interactive smart educational mat to support children’s learning; augmented reality–based training solutions to improve technical training efficiency; the “Cyber Shield” platform for AI-powered cybersecurity prevention; a digital health platform to organize healthcare services for trainees; and a cooperative training platform that streamlines procedures and accelerates processes among training entities.
H.E. praised the quality and maturity of the presented projects, emphasizing the vital role of technical colleges and specialized hackathons in fostering innovation, developing digital skills, and empowering national talent to contribute to shaping a smart future. He also underscored their importance in enhancing the region’s readiness for a competitive and sustainable digital economy.
