MCIT and Huawei Launch the 6th Edition of ICT Local Talents Competition

In the presence of His Excellency the Vise Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Haytham AlOhali, Huawei announced today the launch of the 6th edition of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Competition in the Kingdom, in a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The 6 th edition of the ICT competition is a step to discover and develop local talents. The 6th edition of the "Huawei" ICT competition in the Middle East, which will be held in the Kingdom and in nine other countries in the region, is one of the most significant initiatives in the Middle East. It contributes to preparing the young generation to assume its national responsibilities in building a smart world that is within the reach of every individual, home, company, and integrated communications networking institution. Huawei works to equip the countries of the region and enable them to implement the objectives of their national visions for digital transformation by combining its global program for social responsibility that aims at developing promising local talents in the ICT sector with its vision of establishing a comprehensive ICT ecosystem. Students participating in the various stages of the competition will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and be acquainted with the latest ICTs through the course materials including everything new in the area of internet protocol and information technology, in addition to the 5th generation (5G) technologies, which are a qualitative leap in the way of conducting business and individuals communication. This competition contributes primarily to encourage innovation and creativity among students, increases the competitiveness of societies and motivates them to play an active role in the implementation of the national vision of digital transformation and economic development. The deputy minister for Future Jobs and Capabilities, Eng. Faris Al-Saqabi, stressed that this competition provides great opportunities to develop students' skills and prepare them for the digital world. It also provides an opportunity to gain unparalleled experiences in information and communications technology and informs of the latest innovative technologies and modern trends under the supervision of a global leader in the ICT sector such as Huawei. He indicated that the competition will work to refine the skills of promising Saudi youth and prepare them to assume national responsibilities.
